Science 6

The focus on this course is on Earth and Space Science using the textbook series Prentice Hall along with supplemental materials. We will explore five units during the year: Earth's Place in the Solar System, Atmosphere: Cycles of Energy, Atmosphere and Hydrosphere: Cycles of Matter, Geosphere: Surface Processes, and Geosphere: Internal Processes. Throughout the course, students will have various projects and in-class investigative labs to complete. Outdoor School is also included in the sixth grade curriculum giving students the opportunity to experience first-hand what Earth Science is all about.

Science Packets

For each chapter in science, students will compile a work packet. The work packet will consist of all assignments, quizzes and notes from the current chapter. It is the student’s responsibility to keep his/her work organized in a binder. The work packet will also include a table of contents. The table of contents will be updated throughout the chapter and will act as a “running record” of all assignments. Students should use their work packets to help them prepare for tests. All work packets are due the day of the test. It is expected that the work packet will be chronologically organized and ready to be turned in upon entering class. The work packet will be worth anywhere between 15 and 25 points. The grade will be determined based on a completed table of contents, organization and that all assignments are included per the table of contents.
